The Healing Flow: Artistic Expression in Therapy matured into a book through the support and inspiration of all those who influenced and shaped my doctoral dissertation, on which this book is based. I would like to acknowledge OISE/University of Toronto for giving me permission to use parts of my doctoral thesis. I also would like to thank my thesis committee Dr. Vivian Darroch-Lozowski, Dr. Ron Silvers, Dr. Niva Piran and Dr. David Rehorick, who were instrumental in shaping my understanding and development of my work as a researcher, therapist and artist. I owe a special thanks to Dr. Vivian Darroch-Lozowski, my thesis supervisor and great friend, for her continuous support, encouragement and sensitive and creative guidance and knowledge. The Foreword that she has written to this book reflects the depth of her understanding and close connection to this work. I would also like to thank Dr. Ron Silvers for his artistic and thoughtful input as a thesis committee member as well as a photographer, and as a friend. Both Dr. Vivian Darroch-Lozowski and Dr. Ron Silvers? works have helped to shape and inspire what I have come to comprehend in this book. I furthermore would like to acknowledge Dianne Brassolotto for her skillful editorial responses to the manuscript that I think made the doctoral thesis more accessible. I would like to thank Dr. Helen Ball, a good friend, fellow researcher, therapist and writer, for her support and insight. Her work and the many conversations that we had over the years have helped to shape my thoughts and to refine my work.
